This link is the original entry for the birth of Johan Häckinen on 04 Aug 1762. In the Hiski record I noticed a comment I am not familiar with.
Where it says below: Child Johan (8/22 conf:) I wonder that the comment in ( ) means. On the original birth entry under his name there is a circle with an X in the middle. I notice several others of these symbols in the entries.

He had been emergency baptized (nöddöpt) on 8 August by Johan Ahlbeck. That was confirmed on 22 August by chaplain Johan Stubbe.

Thanks Jaska for getting back to me.
What would constitute and emergency confirmation? The child was sickly and not sure if it would live, the child was definitely not going to live, or another reason? I noticed the Hiski record below for Kuhmo has a Johan Häckinen death entry in 1819 of a 57 year old man which would be the age of this Johan having been born in 1762. Johan was born 04 Aug 1762 and this death date is 28 Dec 1819. Cause of death doesn't sound very good - Languish?

*28.12.1819 1.1.1820 Korpis: 42 enkl:bd: Joh: Häckinen trånsju: 57

My question is: Should I assume he did not die after all - AND how would one die from Languish (Trånsju) ? We may never know.

Ignore my last posting, I found out what happened. Johan did live to 1819 so he may have been a sickly baby thus the emergency confirmation. He did die from a great depression because there was a Typhus epidemic in 1819 and his wife died in March of that year. Christmas came and he grew exceedingly depressed and missed her terribly. He found no reason to live. How exactly he died we may never know, but we can correctly assume that he was consumed in sadness over losing his wife and it was quite possible he himself became ill and refused medical help.
Thank you for your input to the emergency confirmation.

I think that in this case just like for the next child, the reason for emergency baptism was not child's weakness. Maybe the chaplain was unavailable for some reason. Checked the identity of Johan Uhlbeck (not Ahlbeck, as I first read). He was klockare (cantor, bell ringer, verger or whatever were his tasks in those days) at the Kuhmo church.

I think you may be right. It may have been a matter of conflicting scheduled duties or activities.
Thanks for getting back to me.
