typing the letter a

Viesti Kirjoittaja Katie » 10.05.2018 01:55

This is a new one for me. How do I type the letter a John Sarkelă at the end of this name. I can't seem to find the English way to enter it. I usually enter ALT then 4digits like 0229 or 0228. Looks as though it has a smile over the a. Please help.
Thank You
Janice

You actually have the name Särkelä, with two a's with dots... (according to Finnish vowel harmony, you always have two a's in the word - or two ä's
http://thinkinfinnish.com/vowel-harmony.html )

You should be able to write it with ALT+0228 .

The other a, with a circle above it, is the Swedish å - this you do not meet in Finnish texts, only in the Swedish language texts. Typed with ALT+0229 in English keyboards.

You're right, I checked it out as ä and found lots of names. It must have been some sort of typing error on the document I found.
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
Have a nice weekend.
