My great grandfather was born in Rantsila and between Rantsila and Temmes is where Juho (Johan) and his sibling were born. Juho's Birth 22 Feb 1881 in Rantsila, His closest sister, Marie Sofia Junttila Birth 13 Sep 1883 in Rantsila or Temmes. There are limited records for both villages, I have checked all communion and birth records for Liminka. His father's name was Juho or Johan Junttila (at least per United States records), any suggestions on where to look?

And you are lucky, as just the children born in 1881 are included in the net list of Rantsila, here the baptizing of Johan August, on March, 22, father Juho Junttila and mother Sofia.

The number after the parents is Sofia's age, sometimes not exact.

But from there on, backwards, it is tricky. The freshest communion books in the net reach only 1870. You might try to look at Vihityt (Marriages) from this, before Juho was born: http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/index_ ... ay2=104365
and maybe you find the marriage of Sofia and Juho, and from which villages of Rantsila they came from.

I have tried to find a marriage record but I am unable to for Johan Junttila and Sofia , but under Johan Augusti Junttila birth record, http://digihakemisto.appspot.com/edit?k ... ay2=104365, it shows his father Johan Junttila and his mother Sofia, ? age 28 ?, I am wondering how to I read the god parents, could 1 set be Sofia's parents, since she was born in Rantsila? Looks like their names are John Lukkanila(?), then Maria, then Olaf Pukki, then Anna Kantola. Translation help with direction, thank you

You have deciphered it mostly quite right, just the name of "B(onde)n Johan Lukkarila was not right. Olof Pukki's (title" was Inh(ysning), so he was living on farms, not owning one himself.

Yes, bonde = farmer. Anna's "title" is Bdr, meaning bondedotter = famre's daughter.
